This satirical drama captures the collision between traditional Confucian values and the burgeoning capitalist ethos in 1990s Taiwan. Through a series of interconnected stories involving a group of young, urban professionals, the film explores themes of identity, love, and existential confusion. As these characters struggle to find their footing amidst the chaos of changing societal norms, their intertwining lives offer a poignant commentary on the quest for meaning in a world where old and new ideologies clash. It was entered into the 1994 Cannes Film Festival.
