About
Poetry follows Mija, an elderly woman living in a modest South Korean city with her teenage grandson, Wook, for whom she is responsible. While struggling with the early stages of Alzheimer's disease, she enrolls in a poetry class at a local cultural center, hoping to discover beauty and meaning in the ordinary details of everyday life. As she begins observing the world more attentively, she attempts to write her first poem, learning to look beyond appearances and confront uncomfortable truths. Her fragile pursuit of artistic expression is interrupted by a disturbing revelation involving her grandson and a group of schoolboys. Forced to confront the consequences of their actions, Mija faces a painful moral dilemma that challenges her sense of responsibility, compassion, and justice. As her memory deteriorates and the demands placed upon her intensify, poetry becomes both a means of understanding suffering and a quiet form of resistance against moral indifference.
