About

Post Tenebras Lux follows Juan, a well-to-do Mexican man who moves with his wife, Natalia, and their young children to a rural community. Although the family initially enjoys the tranquility of the countryside, tensions gradually emerge within their marriage and in their relationship with the surrounding community. Their relative privilege contrasts with the precarious lives of their neighbors, while Juan struggles with personal anxieties, destructive impulses, and a growing sense of alienation. Rather than following a conventional linear narrative, the film moves between domestic scenes, disturbing visions, fragments of childhood, and episodes set in different places and periods. A recurring image of a mysterious red, demonic figure introduces an unsettling supernatural dimension, blurring the boundaries between reality, memory, dream, and fear. These fragmented episodes form an impressionistic portrait of family life, human vulnerability, and the conflicting forces of desire, violence, and guilt.
