Hong Sang-soo
Hong Sang-soo (born 1960) is a South Korean director and screenwriter whose patient, talk-driven features have made him one of the most distinctive and prolific figures in contemporary East Asian cinema. He studied film in the United States and France before returning to Seoul to direct, and over more than three decades has produced more than twenty-five features built around small ensembles of artists and academics, soju-fuelled conversations, and structural games of repetition and variation. His acclaimed films include The Day a Pig Fell into the Well, Woman Is the Future of Man, Tale of Cinema, Right Now, Wrong Then, On the Beach at Night Alone, and In Front of Your Face.
