Luc Besson
Luc Besson (born 1959) is a French director, producer, and screenwriter, one of the central figures of the commercial cinéma du look in 1980s France and a major figure in the international action-film industry since. Largely self-taught — he began as an assistant on commercials and music videos — he developed a strong visual style around urban underworlds, lonely killers, and oversized fictional worlds. He later co-founded the production house EuropaCorp. His acclaimed films include Le Dernier Combat, Subway, The Big Blue, La Femme Nikita, Léon: The Professional, The Fifth Element, Joan of Arc, and Lucy.
