About

Rain (Nyesha) is a poetic short film about a young female typist whose routine existence is transformed by an encounter with a street activist distributing political leaflets. As she begins to question her apathy and recognize the possibilities of political engagement, the film explores the relationship between personal awakening and collective consciousness. Accompanied by John Coltrane’s After the Rain, Ballenger’s reflective narration transforms rain into a metaphor for renewal, contemplation, and social change. The film exemplifies the politically engaged and formally experimental approach associated with the L.A. Rebellion. (source: Trisha Lendo - cinema.ucla.edu)
