The Tyrant’s Heart, or Boccaccio in Hungary (A zsarnok szíve, avagy Boccaccio Magyarországon) is a 1981 Hungarian drama film written by Gyula Hernádi and directed by Miklós Jancsó.The film was entered into the main competition at the 38th edition of the Venice Film Festival. In 15th-century Hungary, Prince Gaspar returns from Italy to his father's castle with a troupe of actors. He finds his father dead under mysterious circumstances, his mother trapped in a strange trance and rumored to drink virgins' blood, and his uncle newly married to the queen. As reality and illusion blur, Gaspar is told the castle's inhabitants are merely actors, while a mysterious Turk claims to be his true father and tests his right to rule. After failing the trials, Gaspar is forced to abandon the castle and flee with his companions, pursued by Turkish guards.
