Zoltán Huszárik

Zoltán Huszárik (1931–1981) was a Hungarian director, painter, and graphic artist who completed only a small body of features in his short life but is regarded as one of the most painterly stylists in postwar Hungarian cinema. Trained at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest after earlier study in fine arts, he brought a deep sense of composition and a fascination with degradation and time into his work, which moved between feature, short, and documentary. His acclaimed films include Sinbad, Csontváry, the short Elegy, and Tisztelet az Öregeknek.
