Xiaoshuai Wang

Wang Xiaoshuai (born 1966) is a Chinese director and screenwriter associated with the Sixth Generation of Chinese cinema. A graduate of the Beijing Film Academy in the late 1980s, he made his early features outside the official studio system, working with low budgets and a documentary-influenced realism focused on the lives of young people and migrants in a rapidly transforming China. His later work has continued to draw on personal memory and the country's recent social history. His acclaimed films include The Days, Beijing Bicycle, Shanghai Dreams, In Love We Trust, 11 Flowers, and So Long, My Son.
