Tran Anh Hung
Trần Anh Hùng (born 1962) is a Vietnamese-French director and screenwriter whose features are among the most internationally celebrated works of Vietnamese cinema. He emigrated to France with his family as a child and trained at the École Louis Lumière before returning to Vietnam to shoot his early features. His work is characterized by lush, painterly compositions, a strong sensual feeling for food and weather, and a patient handling of family memory. His acclaimed films include The Scent of Green Papaya, Cyclo, The Vertical Ray of the Sun, I Come with the Rain, Norwegian Wood, Eternity, and The Taste of Things.
