Tadeusz Konwicki
Tadeusz Konwicki (1926–2015) was a Polish director, screenwriter, and novelist whose career as a writer-filmmaker is one of the most distinctive in postwar Polish culture. A wartime member of the Polish Home Army's resistance against the Nazi and then Soviet occupations, he carried that experience into a body of work that combines personal memory, dream logic, and the recurring Polish question of what it means to live with history. His acclaimed films include The Last Day of Summer, All Souls' Day, Salto, How Far Away, How Close, The Issa Valley, and Lava.
