Susanne Bier
Susanne Bier (born 1960) is a Danish director and screenwriter, one of the most internationally successful figures in contemporary Scandinavian cinema. Trained in art history and at the National Film School of Denmark, she came of age alongside the Dogme 95 generation — directing the Dogme feature Open Hearts — before moving into broader international productions. Her feature In a Better World won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Her acclaimed films include Family Matters, The One and Only, Open Hearts, Brothers, After the Wedding, Things We Lost in the Fire, In a Better World, A Second Chance, and The Night Manager (television).
