Steven Spielberg
Steven Spielberg (born 1946) is an American director, producer, and screenwriter, one of the most commercially successful and culturally influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. He turned amateur 8mm shorts as a teenager into a career as a young television director at Universal before breaking out theatrically with Jaws, the prototype of the modern Hollywood blockbuster. He has alternated commercial entertainment with morally serious historical drama, co-founding the studio DreamWorks SKG and the Shoah Foundation. His acclaimed films include Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Munich, Lincoln, and The Fabelmans.
