Stephen Daldry
Stephen Daldry (born 1960) is a British director who has worked across theatre, opera, and film. A former artistic director of London's Royal Court Theatre, he turned to feature filmmaking in his late thirties with the popular Billy Elliot. His features are characterized by strong literary sources, prestige casting, and an engagement with class, history, and intimate emotion. His acclaimed films include Billy Elliot, The Hours, The Reader, and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.
