Štefan Uher
Štefan Uher (1930–1993) was a Slovak director regarded as a foundational figure of the Czechoslovak New Wave. A graduate of FAMU, he made his feature debut with The Sun in a Net, widely considered the prototype of the New Wave's aesthetic and political sensibility several years before the wider movement coalesced. His later work continued to engage with Slovak material in an experimental, often poetic style. His acclaimed films include The Sun in a Net, The Organ, Three Daughters, Genius, and The Dolls.
