Stanley Kwan
Stanley Kwan (born 1957) is a Hong Kong director and screenwriter, one of the central figures of the Hong Kong New Wave. Trained at the Hong Kong Television Broadcasts training program, he worked as an assistant director to Ann Hui and others before turning to direction. His features are characterized by an intimate, often female-centred sensibility, lush visual design, and a recurring engagement with Hong Kong identity. His acclaimed films include Rouge, Center Stage (Actress), Red Rose, White Rose, Hold You Tight, Lan Yu, Everlasting Regret, and Showtime.
