Sergio Leone
Sergio Leone (1929–1989) was an Italian director and screenwriter who reinvented the American Western for European audiences and produced some of the most stylistically influential features of his era. The son of the silent-era director Vincenzo Leone, he worked as a longtime assistant on Italian peplum and on American productions shot in Italy before establishing his own style with the Dollars Trilogy, featuring Clint Eastwood and scored by Ennio Morricone. His later work expanded into operatic historical epics. His acclaimed films include A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, Duck, You Sucker!, and Once Upon a Time in America.
