Semih Kaplanoğlu
Semih Kaplanoğlu (born 1963) is a Turkish director and screenwriter whose contemplative, autobiographically inflected features have made him one of the most internationally celebrated figures in contemporary Turkish cinema. Trained at Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, he worked in television and as a screenwriter before turning to feature direction. His best-known work is the so-called Yusuf Trilogy of features that work backwards through the life of a Turkish poet from middle age to childhood. His acclaimed films include Away from Home, Angel's Fall, Egg, Milk, Honey (which won the Golden Bear at Berlin), Grain, and Commitment Hasan.
