Sarah Maldoror

Sarah Maldoror (1929–2020) was a French director of Guadeloupean descent, one of the pioneering figures of African and pan-African political cinema. Trained at VGIK in Moscow, she made films across Africa and Europe with a strong commitment to anti-colonial liberation. Her acclaimed films include Monangambee, Sambizanga, and many shorts about African artists and writers.
