Sam Peckinpah
Sam Peckinpah (1925–1984) was an American director and screenwriter, one of the most controversial and influential figures of New Hollywood. After a long career in television and B-Westerns, he reinvented the American Western with The Wild Bunch, a hyper-violent elegy for the closing frontier. His acclaimed films include Ride the High Country, Major Dundee, The Wild Bunch, Straw Dogs, Junior Bonner, The Getaway, Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, and Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia.
