Roman Polański
Roman Polański (born 1933) is a Polish-French director and screenwriter regarded as one of the most accomplished stylists in postwar European cinema. A child survivor of the Holocaust, he trained at the Łódź Film School, where his short films first gained international notice, before establishing himself as a feature director in Poland, Britain, the United States, and France. His work crosses genres but returns to themes of paranoia, isolation, and corrupted moral order. His acclaimed films include Knife in the Water, Repulsion, Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown, The Tenant, Tess, The Pianist, and An Officer and a Spy.
