Philipp Stölzl
Philipp Stölzl (born 1967) is a German director who works in film and theatre. After a long career as a celebrated stage director — particularly of opera — and a music-video maker for Madonna and Rammstein, he turned to feature filmmaking in the 2000s. His features combine large-scale production design with mainstream storytelling and have been among the most commercially successful German releases of his generation. His acclaimed films include North Face, Goethe!, Tower of David, The Physician, Winnetou, and The Counterfeit Traitor.
