Philip Kaufman
Philip Kaufman (born 1936) is an American director and screenwriter whose career has produced one of the most varied bodies of work in modern American cinema. He came up through the late 1960s independent film scene and produced features across genres — western, science fiction, prestige adaptation, erotic drama — characterized by a literate sensibility and strong ensemble work. His acclaimed films include The Wanderers, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Right Stuff, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Henry & June, Rising Sun, Quills, and Hemingway & Gellhorn.
