Péter Gothár
Péter Gothár (born 1947) is a Hungarian director and screenwriter, one of the most distinctive voices in late-socialist Hungarian cinema. Trained as a stage director at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest, he turned to filmmaking in the 1970s and produced features marked by a strong visual design and a sharp, often satirical eye for the textures of daily life in late-Kádár Hungary. His feature Time Stands Still is widely regarded as a generational portrait of the country in the 1960s. His acclaimed films include A Priceless Day, Time Stands Still, Time, Just a Movie, The Outpost, A Summer Story, and Hungarian Beauty.
