Otto Preminger
Otto Preminger (1905–1986) was an Austrian-American director and producer whose career as an independent producer-director helped break down the production-code restrictions of classical Hollywood. He came up through the German-language stage and through Twentieth Century Fox in the 1940s before establishing himself as a producer-director who tackled controversial material — drug addiction, rape, race — with sober, widescreen restraint. His acclaimed films include Laura, Fallen Angel, Angel Face, The Moon Is Blue, Carmen Jones, The Man with the Golden Arm, Anatomy of a Murder, Exodus, and Advise & Consent.
