Nouri Bouzid
Nouri Bouzid (born 1945) is a Tunisian director and screenwriter, one of the central figures of postwar Tunisian and Maghrebi cinema. He spent five years in prison under the Bourguiba regime for political activity before turning to filmmaking. His features and screenplays have engaged with the experience of political prisoners, sexuality, and Islamic radicalism in contemporary Tunisia. His acclaimed films include Man of Ashes, Golden Horseshoes, Bezness, Bent Familia, Clay Dolls, and Making Of.
