Nicolas Winding Refn
Nicolas Winding Refn (born 1970) is a Danish director and screenwriter, one of the most internationally celebrated figures of contemporary Scandinavian genre cinema. He spent part of his childhood in New York and trained at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts before turning to direction in his early twenties with the cult crime feature Pusher. His subsequent features have moved across continents and genres, sharing a strongly stylized visual sense and a fascination with masculine violence. His acclaimed films include the Pusher trilogy, Bleeder, Bronson, Valhalla Rising, Drive (which won the Best Director prize at Cannes), Only God Forgives, and The Neon Demon.
