Nicolas Roeg
Nicolas Roeg (1928–2018) was a British director and cinematographer whose distinctive, fragmented features in the 1970s made him one of the most stylistically influential filmmakers of his generation. He spent two decades as a cinematographer — including key work for Roger Corman, François Truffaut, Richard Lester, and David Lean — before turning to direction with Performance in 1970. His features are famous for their elliptical editing, doubled motifs, and intense erotic charge. His acclaimed films include Performance, Walkabout, Don't Look Now, The Man Who Fell to Earth, Bad Timing, Eureka, and Insignificance.
