Naomi Kawase
Naomi Kawase (born 1969) is a Japanese director, one of the most internationally celebrated figures of contemporary Japanese cinema. She has worked extensively in documentary and fiction, often dealing with rural Nara, family, and personal memory. Her feature The Mourning Forest won the Grand Prix at Cannes. Her acclaimed films include Suzaku (which won the Caméra d'Or at Cannes), The Mourning Forest, Still the Water, Sweet Bean, Radiance, and True Mothers.
