Nadine Labaki

Nadine Labaki (born 1974) is a Lebanese director, actress, and screenwriter, one of the most internationally celebrated voices in contemporary Lebanese cinema. Trained at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, she began her career directing music videos and television commercials before turning to features. Her work focuses on the lives of women, children, and minorities in Lebanon's fragmented postwar society and has reached wide audiences across the Arab world and beyond. Her acclaimed films include Caramel, Where Do We Go Now?, and Capernaum (which won the Jury Prize at Cannes and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film).
