Nabil Ayouch

Nabil Ayouch (born 1969) is a French-Moroccan director and screenwriter, one of the most internationally recognized figures in contemporary Moroccan cinema. The son of a Moroccan father and a French-Tunisian Jewish mother, he has built his career around features that engage with the social and political realities of contemporary Morocco — street children, religious extremism, gender, and the experience of being Moroccan in Europe. His acclaimed films include Mektoub, Ali Zaoua: Prince of the Street, Whatever Lola Wants, Horses of God, Much Loved, Razzia, and Casablanca Beats.
