Milos Forman
Miloš Forman (1932–2018) was a Czech-American director, screenwriter, and longtime film school professor. A central figure of the Czechoslovak New Wave in the 1960s, he emigrated to the United States after the Soviet-led invasion of 1968 and became a major American director without abandoning his ironic eye for social institutions. His Czech-era comedies, built around non-professional actors and improvised situations, and his later American features both won wide international audiences and several Academy Awards. His acclaimed films include Loves of a Blonde, The Firemen's Ball, Taking Off, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Hair, Amadeus, and The People vs. Larry Flynt.
