Miguel Gomes
Miguel Gomes (born 1972) is a Portuguese director and screenwriter, one of the most distinctive voices in twenty-first-century European cinema. Trained at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School and a former film critic, he turned to direction with shorts and features that mix fiction, documentary, archival materials, and a strong feeling for music. His mid-career features grew increasingly ambitious, culminating in the three-part epic Arabian Nights. His acclaimed films include Our Beloved Month of August, Tabu, the Arabian Nights trilogy, and Grand Tour.
