Michael Cacoyannis

Michael Cacoyannis (1921–2011) was a Greek-Cypriot director and screenwriter, one of the most internationally celebrated Greek filmmakers. He is best known internationally for the feature Zorba the Greek, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director. His acclaimed films include Stella, A Girl in Black, Electra, Zorba the Greek, The Day the Fish Came Out, and Iphigenia.
