Mića Popović
Mića Popović (1923–1996) was a Yugoslav painter, writer, and director, one of the central figures of the Yugoslav Black Wave. Primarily a visual artist, he turned to filmmaking in the 1960s and produced a small body of features marked by stark, painterly visual sensibility and sharp criticism of Yugoslav socialist society. Several of his features were banned by Yugoslav authorities. His acclaimed films include Man from the Oak Forest, Burdened by Past, Random Encounters with Strangers, Mladi i zdravi kao ruža, and Death of Mr. Goluža.
