Marco Bellocchio
Marco Bellocchio (born 1939) is an Italian director and screenwriter, one of the most consistently active and politically engaged Italian filmmakers since the late 1960s. He trained at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome and at the Slade School in London, and burst onto the Italian scene with his fiercely critical debut Fists in the Pocket. His features have engaged with Italian family life, Catholicism, terrorism, and the country's political history across more than five decades. His acclaimed films include Fists in the Pocket, China Is Near, In the Name of the Father, Devil in the Flesh, Henry IV, The Wedding Director, Vincere, The Traitor, and Marx Can Wait.
