Marcel L'Herbier

Marcel L'Herbier (1888–1979) was a French director, one of the central figures of French Impressionist cinema in the 1920s. He founded the IDHEC film school in 1943, where generations of French filmmakers would train. His acclaimed films include Rose-France, El Dorado, L'Inhumaine, Feu Mathias Pascal, L'Argent, and La Nuit Fantastique.
