Majid Majidi
Majid Majidi (born 1959) is an Iranian director and screenwriter who came of age in the second generation of the Iranian New Wave. He began as an actor in religious theatre and in the films of Mohsen Makhmalbaf before turning to direction in the 1990s. His best-known features build around the patient point of view of children, often set in rural Iran, and treat themes of family, faith, and physical hardship with a luminous visual style. His acclaimed films include The Father, Children of Heaven, The Color of Paradise, Baran, The Song of Sparrows, and Sun Children.
