Mahamat-Saleh Haroun
Mahamat-Saleh Haroun (born 1961) is a Chadian-French director and screenwriter, the foremost figure of cinema in Chad. He emigrated from Chad to France during the civil wars of the 1980s, trained at the Conservatoire Libre du Cinéma Français in Paris, and turned to direction with features set largely in his home country and dealing with its long shadow of political violence. His acclaimed films include Bye Bye Africa, Abouna, Daratt, A Screaming Man (which won the Jury Prize at Cannes), Grigris, A Season in France, and Lingui, the Sacred Bonds.
