Lupu Pick
Lupu Pick (1886–1931) was a German actor and director, one of the leading figures of the Kammerspielfilm chamber-play movement in 1920s German silent cinema. Born in Iași, then in Romania, he settled in Berlin and worked as an actor for some of the major directors of the late silent era before turning to direction. His best-known films — written by the screenwriter Carl Mayer — eschewed inter-titles in favour of psychological intimacy and pared-down sets. His acclaimed films include Shattered, Sylvester, Das Panzergewölbe, A Spree to Paris, and Napoleon at Saint-Helena.
