Lucrecia Martel
Lucrecia Martel (born 1966) is an Argentine director and screenwriter, the most internationally celebrated figure of the New Argentine Cinema. Trained in animation and journalism, she made short films through the 1990s before establishing herself with the so-called Salta Trilogy — three features set in and around the provincial city where she grew up, built around suffocating middle-class families, languid heat, and a distinctive use of off-screen sound. Her acclaimed films include La Ciénaga, The Holy Girl, The Headless Woman, and Zama.
