Lou Ye

Lou Ye (born 1965) is a Chinese director and screenwriter, one of the central figures of the Sixth Generation of Chinese cinema. He has had recurring conflicts with the Chinese state-film regulators over the content of his features. His acclaimed films include Suzhou River, Purple Butterfly, Summer Palace, Spring Fever, Mystery, Blind Massage, The Shadow Play, and Saturday Fiction.
