Liz Garbus
Liz Garbus (born 1970) is an American documentary director and producer, one of the most prolific and acclaimed figures in contemporary American non-fiction cinema. A graduate of Brown University, she co-founded the production company Moxie Firecracker and has directed and produced documentaries that have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature multiple times. Her work focuses on figures and institutions at the edge of American public life — prisoners, chess players, jazz singers, missing persons. Her acclaimed films include The Farm: Angola USA, Ghosts of Abu Ghraib, Bobby Fischer Against the World, Love, Marilyn, What Happened, Miss Simone?, and All In: The Fight for Democracy.
