Lindsay Anderson
Lindsay Anderson was a British film director, critic, and leading figure of the British New Wave, born in Bangalore, India, in 1923. Known for his socially critical and rebellious filmmaking, he began his career directing influential documentaries before moving into feature films. Anderson gained international recognition with This Sporting Life (1963), a landmark of British realism, and later with the satirical classic If.... (1968), which won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival. He continued his critique of British society in films such as O Lucky Man! (1973) and Britannia Hospital (1982).
