Laurent Cantet
Laurent Cantet (1961–2024) was a French director and screenwriter, one of the most acclaimed French filmmakers of his generation. A graduate of IDHEC, he produced his first short films in the 1990s before turning to features that examined the structures of work, education, and globalization through tightly observed ensemble drama. His third feature The Class won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 2008. His acclaimed films include Human Resources, Time Out, Heading South, The Class, Foxfire, Return to Ithaca, The Workshop, and Arthur Rambo.
