Koreyoshi Kurahara
Koreyoshi Kurahara (1927–2002) was a Japanese director who built his career largely at Nikkatsu studios, working at the energetic, genre-driven end of the Japanese New Wave. Trained as an assistant under Yasujirō Shimazu, he produced a varied filmography of youth films, jazz-soaked melodramas, action features, and later large-scale international co-productions. His work was rediscovered by Western festival audiences in the 2000s. His acclaimed films include I Hate but Love, The Warped Ones, Black Sun, Thirst for Love, Antarctica, and Glacier Fox.
