King Hu
King Hu (1932–1997) was a Chinese director regarded as the most important figure of the modern Chinese wuxia (martial-chivalry) film. Born in Beijing and trained as a graphic designer, he moved through assistant and acting work at Hong Kong's Shaw Brothers studios before turning to direction. His features reinvented the wuxia genre with carefully choreographed action, Buddhist philosophical undertones, and a strong painterly sense of landscape, influencing generations of action filmmakers around the world. His acclaimed films include Come Drink with Me, Dragon Inn, A Touch of Zen, The Fate of Lee Khan, The Valiant Ones, and Raining in the Mountain.
