Károly Makk
Károly Makk (1925–2017) was a Hungarian director and one of the most celebrated figures of postwar Hungarian cinema. Trained at the Academy of Drama and Film in Budapest, he established his reputation in the 1950s and produced a body of work distinguished by a sensitive handling of intimate human relationships and the moral weight of recent Hungarian history. His feature Love is widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of Hungarian cinema. His acclaimed films include Liliomfi, House Under the Rocks, Love, A Very Moral Night, Another Way, The Gambler, and A Long Weekend in Pest and Buda.
