Juzo Itami

Juzo Itami (1933–1997) was a Japanese director and actor who, after a long career as a popular character actor, turned to direction in his fifties and produced a celebrated series of comic features about Japanese social institutions. His acclaimed films include The Funeral, Tampopo, A Taxing Woman, A Taxing Woman's Return, Minbo (or the Gentle Art of Japanese Extortion), and The Last Dance.
