Julian Schnabel
Julian Schnabel (born 1951) is an American painter and director, one of the most internationally celebrated figures of contemporary American visual art and a major presence in contemporary art-house cinema. He turned to direction in his late forties and produced features built around real-life artistic and political figures. His acclaimed films include Basquiat, Before Night Falls, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Miral, and At Eternity's Gate.
